Our approach is to foster an atmosphere of belonging, so that all current and former candidates can contribute towards the success of the project. The confidence is injected through the marketing and sales of the results of the projects to business and industry - this forms the proof, from which a 'can do' confidence is fostered.
Aims & Ojectives
The aim of the project is two fold; first, to impart business and technical skills to carefully selected candidates through implementing a yearly sponsored programme for final year undergraduate science and engineering students; second, where possible, to further develop and take to market suitable products and or services that result.
Team work, communicating and presenting information underlies all success in life, it is emphasised through out the project team. Candidates are encouraged to share information and problems. Hoarding good news and or hiding bad news are frowned upon by all members. It is believed that a problem shared is a problem halved!
Candidates therefore are selected in a two stage process. Initial selection is based on an assessment of the candidate's aptitude in science and communication and presentation of selected ideas. The second is made by interviews by past and present candidates who are responsible for conducting the second phase.
The funds required to undertake all the activities of the project are raised entirely from financial and material contributions from business, international organisations and the sales of products and services emanating from student projects.
